Glasgow Athletic 2 AC Milanda 2 (HT 0-0)

First real chance falls for McColgan but the keeper saves his shot. Then Coyle breaks clear down the left and his low cross looks to be landing perfectly for reid but a defender gets the faintest of touches and knocks it away from the boot of Reid.

GA make their first real effort on the Milanda goal and a dangerous ball into the six yard box is calmly turned away for a corner by Wilson. A minute later and the best chance of the first half so far falls to Athletic when Preston turns a shot onto the post before it is cleared. Athletic continue to press and Preston makes a good save form a free kick conceded on the edge of the box by Wilson. It remained scoreless at HT.

The deadlock was broken soon after half time when a short throw by Griffin was crossed into the box by Wilson and McGowan stuck a leg out to re-direct the ball into the net.

GA pressed for an equaliser and found a gap through the middle of the Milanda defence to get back on level terms. Both teams now looked for a winner and it was Milanda who looked to have secured it when a long throw by Griffin was headed on by sub Scott Preston, fellow sub Williamson was unable to get any direction on the ball but headed it straight back across goal where Preston had a 2nd attempt which he aimed towards goal. This time the bar got in the way but it bounced down kindly for Coyle who forced the ball home from 2 yards.

Milanda looked to be hanging on to the three points until the final moments when a disputed free kick was given on the edge of the Milanda box. Although the free kick may have been suspect there was no doubting the quality of the finish when a screamer into the top corner left Preston with no chance.

A draw a fair result on the night but once again Milanda unable to see the game out to collect 3 points.
