Milanda hardly managed to get out of 1st gear in this game but Deanpark couldn't take advantage of a Milanda side that were off the pace for most of the 90 mins. The game lacked any of the excitement and bizarre goings on from the fixture on saturday. The only odd thing was how Milanda managed to keep Deanpark from scoring for so long. Deanpark scorned two great chances before Milanda scored with almost their first attack. the first chance was the result of a breakaway and left fawns one on one with the attacker but he managed to slow him down enough to allow defenders back. When the shot eventually arrived preston was positioned on the line to head the ball too safety. A few mins ;later Deanpark had an even better chance when Grant handled in the box and a penalty was awarded. Not one the taker will wish to remember as he skied it high and wide. This prompted Milanda to try and attack the goal at the other end and Reid had a great chance when using his pace to out run the defence but his lob over the advancing keeper failed to find the target but he didn't have long to wait to make amends when the resultant bye kick was mis-hit and Reid stole the ball of the centre half as he tried to control it and this time reid made no mistake with his lob and Milanda were 1up against the run of play. Deanpark continued to dominate the game and passed up a number of further chances with again the ball being cleared off the line and desperate defending from Milanda. it was only a matter of time before the Milanda defence was breached though. A break down the left saw the ball cut back to the edge of the box and a first time shot left everyone stranded as it hit the back of the net and that was how it stayed until half time. Some harsh words from Milanda boss McMillan at half time and he was looking for a big improvement in the 2nd half. So a few mins in and Milanda are 2-1 down. Another break ont he left and the cross to the front post was neatly dispatched from inside the 6 yard box although there was no challenge. This prompted a change from Milanda when Early and Williamson replaced Dullaghan and Duncan. The game began to flow from end to end as Deanpark tried to find the killer third goal but Milanda kept pressing for an equaliser. Reid had a couple of chances as he managed to get in behind the defence but just couldn't finish them off. A couple of cut backs across goal were just inches away from Coyle. Milanda eventually got the equaliser when a long throw bounced around the penalty box before Early got a back heel in that somehow managed to evade a forest of legs and find the net. Both teams searched for the winner. Williamson had a couple of headers that could have won the game. The first was the best of the two when a deep cross by Murray caught out the Deanpark defence who didn't come out in a line but his header looped over the stranded keeper and unfortunately the bar when he should have done better. his 2nd chance was a header from a tight angle that the keeper pushed onto the post and away for a corner. At the other end fawns was in fine form as he pushed away a net bound shot then cut out a dangerous low cross that would probably have been goal without his intervention. Tempers started to get a bit frayed as the match neared it's conclusion but the ref steadied the game with a firm hand and a game that threatened to erupt ended peacefully. Milanda had one last chance when Reid found space in the box and his shot looked net bound but was just the wrong side of the post and the points were shared. A fair result over the piece. Milanda didn't play well and were lucky not to be 2/3 at HT but picked it up in the 2nd and created a number of real chances but on the night just couldn't find the net. MOTM – Quite a few below par performances but in goals Fawns once again showed that he can be relied on to make important saves at vital times during a game and he gets the MOTM award. |
