A rather odd game this one.

Played on one of the biggest pitches in the league measuring at least 4 miles long and 2 miles wide it was the kind of pitch Milanda often struggle on. This proved to be the case for long spells in the first half as Strathclyde passed up a number of great chances in front of the Milanda goal. The old cliche about taking your chances when on top came back to haunt them as Milanda took the lead against the run of play.

Johnstone found some room on the edge of the box but decided to delay his shot on his right foot and looked to have given Strathclyde time to get back but he switched the ball to his left and hit a curling shot round the keeper for a great finish which the keeper could only stand and watch as it hit the net.

Milanda then welcomed back McColgan who replaced the injured Evans and was having his first run of action after a long injury lay off.

The pattern of the game stayed much the same with Strathclyde pressing and Milanda defending with the odd flurry up the park. This was the game continued until just before half time when a Milanda one-two killed the game off. It was Early who got the first after a lay off from Johnstone on the edge of the box which Early took forward a couple of strides before hitting a right foot shot past the keeper. A few moments later and it was 3-0 with Johnstone getting his 2nd after picking up the ball in the box.

Half time followed seconds later.

Strathclyde were down to 10men in the 2nd half when they lost one of their players to injury and had no replacement on the bench.

The second half was almost a mirror of the first except it was Milanda, who took advantage of the extra man and created a number of great chances but like Strathclyde in the first couldn't put any of them away. Johnstone had one off the post, Walker, Murray and Early all missed chances as well.

Strathclyde got themselves a consolation near the end when McColgan was short with back header to Walker and the ball was lofted over his head.

After the terrible performance of the previous week it was a huge improvement by Milanda who took the few chances they had in the first half which was just as well after the number they missed in the second.

MOTM - Solid performance all round. Mark Walker has been knocking on the door in a number of recent games since he pushed his way into the first team and gets the MOTM award this week.
