A largely forgettable Cup semi final tie was played out at Glasgow Green with a swirling wind doing its best to prevent any real football being played.

Milanda had the benefit of the wind in the first half but it seemed to hinder more than help as passes were running out of play and forwards found themselves chasing lost causes.

The half was only notable for two clear chances, one for each side The first was for Glasgow Athletic when a quick passing move saw their striker in the clear and despite having plenty of time to pick his spot he skied his shot over the bar when he should have done better. At the other end Coyle latched onto a loose ball and beat the onrushing keeper to the ball but he got too full a contact on the ball and it unfortunately sailed over the bar.

That was about it in a forgettable first half.

The second wasn't much better with chances being few and far between. Milanda's Cup dream died with 2 goals in 2 mins. The first came after a ball into the box was only partially cleared and it was delivered back into the box and a shot from 8 yards found the net. A minute or so later a break on the right caught the Milanda defence square and as the cross was played across the 6 yard box it was easily despatched and gave Milanda a mountain to climb.

Milanda tried hard to get back into the game but Athletic defended well and repelled all attacks until 10 mins from the end when Coyle finally got free and hit a low cross to the back post that Evans slide in to give Milanda a chance of taking the game to extra time.

It wasn't to be though and in the end Athletic comfortably held on to take their place in the final and Milanda wishes them all the best in the final where they will face either Parklife or Ballieston Thistle.

MOTM: Hard one to call this week. Plenty of effort in difficult conditions. After deliberation we'll give this week's award to Scott Preston who had a commanding game in the Milanda defence but is still crap at predictions.
