Another stuttering display from Milanda but fortunately they emerged with 3 points after making life difficult for themselves. It was a perfect start for Milanda when they took an early lead after a Reid corner was met at the backpost by some part of Preston's body and found its way into the net. Milanda failed to build on this though and like previous weeks found it hard to get any fluency in their game. Cs were giving the Milanda defence problems with their pacey forwards but Milanda managed to keep them at bay for the first 45. At the other end Reid was doing his best to provide ammo for the forwards. A few dangerous crosses were desperately cleared by the CS defence and Reid also won a couple of free kicks which didn't come to anything. A mostly forgettable first half ended with Milanda leading by preston's early goal. The second half started badly for Milanda when Preston was beaten in the air and the ball fell into the path of an unmarked CS forward who took a few strides into the Milanda box and hit a low finish past Walker. An odd few mins followed which saw Milanda lose two players to injury and regain the lead. First up was Scott who was hit hard by two CS players and sustained a leg injury that forced him to come off with Binnie taking his place. Then Williamson went down with no one near him. He gingerly got back to his feet just in time to see a Coyle pass send Evans through on goal and he shot under the diving keeper to put Milanda back in front. A few mins later Williamson admitted defeat and was replaced by Fawns. His injury later turned out to be soft tissue damage to the ankle and will keep him out for 6 weeks. Milanda went looking for the killer 3rd goal and it came form Coyle after another excellent corner from Reid found Coyle unmarked in the 6 yard box and he easily finished. The game looked dead and buried at that point but CS kept going and were rewarded with a 2nd goal with a couple of mins left on the clock. It gave Milanda a worrying few mins but they played out time and secured the three points. And before I forget Dave O'Neill was playing. It was another morning of hard work for Milanda but we played better than that against CS last season and lost 4-1 so we can't complain too much. Man of the match – Mark Reid was the provider for two goals, swung in some dangerous crosses and wasn't afraid to take a player on. Did a power of work up and down the right wing and he takes this week's award. |
