For the first time since the League Cup earlier this season Milanda struggled to get 11 fit players on the park. Despite plenty of hard work and effort Milanda didn't deserve to take anything out of this game. Renfrew set the tone for the game by putting Milanda under pressure from the off and for probably the first time this season a team was capable of matching Milanda in the air. Milanda found it difficult to get beyond halfway without resorting to long clearances. Renfrew were creating numerous chances that their forwards contrived to put past the post and over the bar. They thought the breakthrough had come when Fawns misjudged a through ball on the edge of the box and brought down the attacker and a penalty was awarded. Fortunately for Milanda the penalty hit the top of the bar and away for a bye kick. This gave Milanda a boost and for the first time began to pressure Renfrew's back four but they made little headway with only a Williamson half chance making the keeper do any work. Milanda's task was made harder when Dullaghan had a recurrence of his thigh injury that saw him going off for treatment which left Milanda down to 10 men. he eventually re-joined the fray but was clearly hampered by his injury. Despite being under the cosh for most of the half Milanda reached half time with the game goalless. Milanda then lost O'Neill at Ht and Addison was his replacement but he was also injured and Milanda were effectively playing with 9 fit players. Milanda lasted to about halfway through the 2nd half when the inevitable happened. A corner was hit to the back post and a free header allowed Renfrew to take the lead. Worse was to follow when Milanda lost possession straight from kick off and gave away a foul on the right of the box and from the free kick another free header and another goal. Milanda did their best to try and claw their way back into the game but it was a mountain too high. Coyle had Milanda's best chance of the game but the keeper saved his close range shot well and that was about it. At the other end Fawns had a great one handed save that prevented Milanda falling further behind. Given the lack of bodies and the circumstances Milanda had done well to keep it to 2 and were grateful for the final whistle when it came. Couldn't fault the effort, especially the players who were carrying injuries, and everyone , tried to get something from the game but a huge park with 9 fit players, hot morning and against a fit, young and eager Renfrew Town just proved too much. MOTM - Not many contenders this week but Scott Preston carried on where he left off last week and can't see past him for this week's award.
