Milanda's best display of the season as they carried over the hard work and graft of the previous week and added in a little style for good measure. Milanda still smarting from throwing away 2 pts last week were in no mood to make the same mistake again. They were made to wait though before they could make amends as the CS player bring the strips had been stopped by the police and as a result arrived a little later than expected. Similar to last week Milanda took an early lead. A long ball looked to be the CS keepers but Coyle managed to get himself in between the defender and keeper to get a touch and leave the keeper stranded. Another fantastic start but it was shortlived. A long and high free kick reached Milanda's backpost and with everyone standing watching CS scored the equaliser. Almost a carbon copy of last week's equaliser. With Milanda pushing 5 men into midfield they completely swamped CS and kept any supply to their front men to a minimum while having an extra man in midfield meant Milanda's forward were getting plenty of support. Milanda regained the lead from the head of Crawford when for once a free kick to the back post was to Milanda's benefit. CS tried once again to get back on terms and had a great chance when their centre forward was put through but he skied over the bar. Then it was the turn of a CS defender who found himself on the end of a cross at the back post but screwed his shot wide. Milanda gave themselves some breathing space with two quick goals before half time. Williamson put in a left foot cross that a defender could only knee towards his own goal but he was relieved to see the ball come back off the post and cleared away for a shy. From the resultant throw in the ball fell to Coyle on the edge of the box and his shot took a slight deflection before beating the keeper. No 4 quickly followed when a first time shot from the edge of the box by McColgan found it's way through a tangle of legs and again the keeper was helpless. Milanda could be well pleased with their effort of the first half and were deservedly ahead. The second half was more of the same. Milanda kept the pressure on CS aware of the loss of a three goal lead the previous week. Coyle completed a fine afternoon's work when completing his hat-trick after finding space on the edge of the box and calmly drilled home his third and Milanda's fifth. The best was kept until last though when a sweeping move was finished off by Early who left the CS keeper with no chance as his measured finish found the top left hand corner. CS kept going to the finish and with a bit of luck and composure in front of goal would have got a couple back but it just wasn't to be their morning. A good result for Milanda against a team Milanda have often struggled in the past and the best display of the season. Man of the match: No one had a bad game this week and some excellent performances from Preston, Crawford, McColgan, Murray and Early but i suppose we'll have to give it to Coyle for his hat-trick and general all round play. |
